the finer things
twas the day before christmas and all through the web,
not a blogger was blogging, not even a celeb.
the glitter stockings were hung by the fireplace with care,
in the hopes that kate spade presents, soon would be there.
the gifts were wrapped and tied with a bow,
and so i sat in my apartment and just waited for snow.
"but oh wait!" i thought, there's still shopping to be done,
and it all has to be completed before i can have some fun!
"now, taxi! now, curb! now, lift and ubers!
on subways, on busses, on bradley and coopers!
to the top of madison! to the top of wall!
now get me to, get me to, get me to the mall!"
off to cartier on fifth for my last minute shopping,
but checking my bank account was just a little bit shocking.
i guess this year my family will have to settle for a hug,
because the finer things in life are really about love.
i hopped back on the subway to await my ride
as i was heading to the hamptons to enjoy the seaside.
i got in the car with my brother in tow,
knowing he may peek at the presents in stow.
we drove off in the range, to nyc we gave a whistle,
and across the bridge we flew like the down of a thistle.
with christmas eve so close in sight,
we all said, "merry christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!"
