spot on

yesterday on the blog, i shared the look i wore to andrea's wedding and it only seemed appropriate that i share the outfit i wore to her rehearsal dinner as well! seeing as i was going to be drinking and eating all night, i knew i wanted to be comfy. aka i wanted to find the flowy-est of flowy dresses there was. and i'm pretty sure i nailed it with this polka dotted number. while admittedly it is not the most flattering thing i've ever worn here on this is without a doubt the comfiest and i'm so happy i wore it as the food at the dinner did not disappoint!

dress: a.w.a.k.e.

fall into place (des vosges)

happy monday everyone! i am so excited to continue sharing my posts and outfits from paris. during my trip, i was so thankful i packed this max mara dress because it was so comfortable to wear right when i landed! ...and because it isn't as acceptable to wear your pajamas in public like it is in the us. and if you have been following me on instagram/instastories, you know that i have been living in these boots since i bought them! seriously one of my best purchases of the year! stay tuned for more of my parisian adventures!

an american in paris

oh paris i missed you so much!! it had been two years since i was last in the city of lights and words cannot describe how eager i was to get back! for those of you who may not know, paris has a very special place in my heart. i first visited paris with my family when i was in middle school when i barely knew the phrase "je vourdrais un croissant" but that didn't stop me from instantly falling in love with it. i then made a stop here for two weeks with a youth travel group just before my sophomore year of high school and i think we can all guess where i decided to study abroad when i was a junior in college. paris is one of those places where i will always feel at home and this time i was ready to do it right (aka for instagram).

sheer genius

last week was such an amazing week as i spent the a few days in los angeles with dana for the veuve clicquot polo classic! as many of you know, this event is dana and myself's favorite event of the year in nyc so we were beyond excited to attend the classic on the opposite coast. of course, more details will come but i am so happy to be headed home today to the cooler temperatures. and with cooler temperatures in nyc means that i can finally start breaking out the long sleeves and coats that have been locked up for the summer! who else is thrilled that it is finally starting to feel like fall!? i hope everyone has an amazing monday!!

crossing over to fall

thank goodness summer is (un)officially over...i never thought this day would come! now we can officially let the transition to fall begin. bring on the sweaters and deeper hues! this past weekend gave us a teaser of what fall is going to be like and life was good: until it became 85 degrees yesterday and all i wanted to wear was a black leather jacket. but i'm clearly over it. so on days that, i reach for this perfectly lightweight dress to get me through the day (without overheating) all while giving me just a pinch of fall vibes. and i can even see myself wearing this print again in the spring as another transition piece!

make the cut

i'm no stranger to tailoring pieces to fit my body better. as i mentioned here, i sometimes go as far as basically having a whole new garment created! this dress hit the awkward sweet spot between being a maxi dress/gown and being a midi dress on me. you know the one that hits just above the ankle? not a great look to say the least. so my instant solution was to have it hemmed! easy right!? well it would have been if it weren't for the pesky embellishments and the tiered ruffles. so i made a split decision and had my tailor cut the entire bottom section off...aka 14 inches!

check please

i couldn't be happier that today is friday! mostly because this week was a completely normal work-week for me and i didn't get a long weekend for the fourth of july...retail problems. although i'm not going to the hamptons this weekend, this post has me itching to go back! this little gingham number was the perfect dress to stop by the maidstone hotel in east hampton and check out their new renovations! if you ever find yourself in search of a hotel when in the hamptons, i highly recommend the maidstone! so instead of coming to terms that i will not be out east this weekend, i will just pretend that i am!
