from kennebunkport, with love

happy valentine's day everyone!

what better way to celebrate one of my favorite holidays (mostly because everyone wears pink and red) than by sharing the details from my girl's getaway with dana to kennebunkport, maine! we were so honored to have been asked to help celebrate the most romantic of months in this charming town to kick off paint the town red! but before i get into all of the good stuff, it is crucial that i share the perfection that was my hotel: the grand hotel. located just before the bridge to what is considered kennebunkport, this quaint hotel in kennebunk was just what i needed for a weekend getaway! as soon as i checked in, i jumped into the frette robe that was hanging and had to stop myself from eating all of the chocolates that awaited me on the coffee table. after getting settled in my hotel, and dana in hers, we headed out to explore the town!

thankfully there was the perfect coffee shop just across the street from my hotel because a pick-me-up was needed after the five-hour drive! i could have walked down the streets for hours just taking in the fresh air and scenery. a few of the shops and restaurants were closed because of the off season but we still managed to pop into a few places to say hello and chat with the local thanks to a list of recommendations left by the hotel! dana and i headed to "the buoys" where we had lunch at the ramp. while the upstairs portion of the restaurant, pier 77, is a little more formal, the downstairs was casual and fun! the entire ceiling was decorated with knick knacks and the place was filled with locals...oh yeah, and the food was delicious too!

it was a good thing i wore my new extra comfy madewell jeans because we then went to dinner at the kennebunkport inn. i don't think there was any part of this town that wasn't perfect! and the hamburger i ordered was seriously next level. many people probably don't realize this but good burgers in nyc are hard to come by...at least ones that don't cost an arm and a leg. but this burger was so good that dana and i went back the next night. haha not sorry!

and speaking of perfection, i was completely obsessed with the fact that the entire town put up hearts everywhere for paint the town red! it truly made you feel the love!

with cuteness aside, we were there for some serious and heavy duty work: chocolate and wine tasting. i know...it was really tough. but thankfully dana was there to support me haha. we had so much fun attending this event that was part of pain the town red and we got to meet so many wonderful people! i even made my own box of chocolate truffles! but let's be honest, they didn't even make it back to the car before i ate them all.

dana and i truly had such a wonderful time exploring a new city that neither of us had been to! now i'm plotting my return in the summer! also, don't forget to check out dana's recap here!

if you find yourself in maine this month, be sure to stop by kennebunkport for more fun paint the town red events every weekend!
