crossing bridges

living in nyc, my bucket list of things to do seems to be growing exponentially. one location that has always had my heart has been the brooklyn bridge. i first crossed the bridge last december (almost a year ago today!) with my friend kate but i wanted to take the brooklyn bridge experience one step further...and go at sunrise.

i was able to bribe dana to wake up before the sun and make the journey downtown to the bridge in 30 degree temperatures. thankfully she is easily persuaded by chipotle. setting the alarm for 5:30am was painful and waking up at that time hurt even more. seeing the light at the edge of the horizon, however, made everything worth it.

with the perfection location and the perfect light, i needed the perfect outfit. working on madison avenue, i have the luxury of seeing all of the new goodies in each of the stores quite frequently. so just before thanksgiving, i passed the j.crew collection storefront and stopped dead in my tracks. this plaid maxi skirt drew me in and without hesitation, i purchased it. after some slight hemming of the length, i decided to pair it with my favorite turtleneck (similar here) and handy dandy leather lacket (love this and this).

as it was nearly freezing, i was so thankful i layered a pair of leggings underneath...an added bonus to the maxi length! hand warmers were nearby between takes but we couldn't wait to run back to manhattan and hop in a cab.

we arrived back to our respective apartments with plenty of time to go back to bed. needless to say, i have never been so excited to put on sweatpants and bury myself in a mountain of blankets!

so, what happens when i do everything on my nyc bucket list? i guess i'll cross that bridge when i get to it.
