let it snow

after a month off from the blog, i’m finally back and ready for action! some of you may have seen on my stories that last week i was able to live out my life-long dream of being elsa while in canada. okay, it hasn’t been thaaat long but since discovering the most incredible ice masterpiece in alberta from this music video, i knew i needed to get there one day. dana and i had been talking about going on a winter trip for some time and since she was going to have a week off before starting her new job, we knew then would be our chance!

why i don't wear the most "flattering" clothes

i think we can all agree here that i have an obsession with fashion…and really clothes in general. okay fine, it’s more of an addiction but let’s not put labels on things shall we? my love of clothing breaks down to an appreciation for craftsmanship, design, and overall style and i will wear anything that i feel is fabulous! while i may love all of the components of this love, those things sometimes don’t match up with my body type and as much as i would love to be a six-foot tall glamazon model that looks good in everything with legs for days, i’m not and nor will i ever be. i don’t want to turn this post into an obnoxiously body-positive one, but to cut to the chase, i’ve accepted myself for me and i’ve stopped trying to fight my own body to be something it’s not

my journey to the dc cherry blossoms

if you’ve been following me from the very beginning, you may know i went to school at the george washington university in washington, dc and every year the unofficial start to the spring season was without a doubt the annual cherry blossom festival. all over dc cherry blossoms would bloom at the end of march-early april but there was no sight like seeing all of them bloom around the tidal basin - it is truly something out of a painting! since i started my blog back in 2015, i had been able to photograph once at the blossoms but then, of course, had to move to nyc after graduation. i no longer had the easy accessibility to my favorite (and very time-sensitive) trees that i once had but i still figured that i would hop on down whenever they were to peak.

in the black

happy friday everyone! and more importantly, a happy black friday! i hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving yesterday but now the fun really begins: the countdown to chirstmas! while everyone is very excited to take advantage of holiday deals and deep discounts, i will spread the same message that i do every year. it’s a reminder to those who are choosing to do their shopping today in the stores, remember to be extra, extra, extra nice and patient to the sales associates and staff members. they have to work incredibly long and stressful hours today and who knows what time they had to get up this morning to get to work. and typically, the time retail workers get to spend with their families is cut short so just be aware of that before you think someone is moving a little slower than you would like (*cough looking at you new yorkers cough*).

denim is the new black

happy wednesday everyone!

with my photography program in full swing and my shooting schedule being so busy, i have basically been living in jeans for the past 3 months with my hair almost always in a bun. although i will say i was in the darkroom last week in this tulle skirt and i had no complaints…but i made sure to wear the largest apron i could find haha it was truly a sight to see! aside from that exception though, comfort has been key for me these days. you will always find me now in comfy slides and oversized shirts!

but don’t worry too much though! with the holidays fast approaching, the cocktail dresses and midi skirts will be back before you know it!

white after labor day

happy tuesday everyone! i hope everyone had a wonderful labor day yesterday but unfortunately the time has come to put away all things white...

haha jokes on jokes!

but in all seriousness, my whites are not being put away for quite some time! thankfully this white gal meets glam dress is in my closet and will be incredibly versatile even when the seasons change. and of course i had to pair it with my favorite pearl tote to coordinate with the pearl detailing on the dress. pearl overkill? i think not!

now let's just continue the countdown to fall!

seattle and the unpredictable weather

when dana and i decided to head to the west coast for the skagit valley tulip festival, we didn't really have anything else on our agenda except we knew we wanted to stop at the pike place market. i know, stereotypical but hey, we couldn't help it! as i mentioned here, dana and i had taken the 6am flight from new york to seattle to maximize our first day. we also wanted to feel out what this whole crazy seattle weather situation was going to be like because the forecast predicted rain every single day. but tim gunn would have been proud because we definitely made it work. we became mini al roker's because we would obsess over the hourly breakdown of the weather and constantly checked the radar for updates. any time there was a patch of good weather coming up, we ran to the location!

wandering in woodstock

welcome to woodstock! i had been dying to come back to vermont after visiting it for the first time almost three years ago! my last trip was during the summer, and although it was absolutely stunning, i was itching to come back in the winter. snow covered mountains is one of my favorite sights...because sandy beaches are so 2005. andrea and i decided to make the nearly 5-hour trek up to woodstock to get in some snow time (outside of nyc). unfortunately, on the drive up, it was pouring rain and continued to rain throughout the afternoon and evening. the michigander in me knew this only meant one thing come morning: ice...and a lot of it. thankfully it was cold enough that the snow didn't leave us completely but it was all covered with a sheet of ice. weather challenges aside, that didn't stop up from exploring the town!

hallstatt // the storybook town

well the time has come...this is officially the last post from my european extravaganza! as a closet pinterest-er, i stumbled upon the most picturesque town of hallstatt when searching for locations in austria. sitting just an hour outside of salzburg, my mom and i decided to make the drive to see my pinterest board come to life. thankfully our sound of music tour guide from the day before gave us amazing pointers for this quaint little town.

versailles // let them eat cake

next up on my paris re-do list was none other than my vacation home...err i mean the palace of versailles. the last time i visited my vacation home...ugh i did it again! the last time i visited versailles was during my first few days of studying abroad. i took the hour+ long train out with a few of my classmates and explored the palace. this instagram was even one of my favorites from the pre-blog days! this time around, andrea and i opted for the time efficient uber just a 30 minute ride outside of paris. we had originally planned to get there right as the gates opened with our pre-paid tickets in hand but our snooze buttons got the best of us! we headed out around 1:00pm and that was a mistake to say the least. we figured it would be crowded on the thursday we went but not as crowded as it actually was! our pre-paid tickets only saved us around 5-10 minutes but the waiting in line took around and hour and a half. and the photographer in me started to freak out about how much light we were actually going to have. but we definitely made it work!

pinkies up

pink is clearly my favorite color and you don't have to tell me twice to completely wear it from head to toe. even on the streets of new york when everyone features their best black clothing this time of year, you can always spot me strutting down the street in my favorite pink coat! at the moment, i have 6 pink coats in my collection (this being #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6 will be in my post from austria and i'm not even counting this one) and i have to constantly remind myself when i go into store that i don't need another. ugh. but nonetheless, pink, in my eyes, is a neutral and will forever be incorporated into my outfits as frequently as possible. so be a ray of sunshine and wear your favorite color from head to toe! the whole world will be thankful for it!

paint the town red

fashion week is coming to an end, but for me, it ended with a bang at the rewardstyle party satrurday evening. every season, i always look forward to this event as i am able to see and catch up with some of my favorite blogger babes. i even ran into beth, who i haven't seen since our days at kate spade in washington, dc! i also loved catching up with emily, kate, kayla, and caroline...those ladies always make my day! oh and dana. obviously. and then i met some new faces like lejla who is just the sweetest!! once again i am reminded why i love doing what i do and the great music and open bar didn't hurt either!
