bonjour 2020

after a quick train ride from london, we arrived to the city of lights! paris has always been my favorite city (did you know i studied abroad here!?) and i was so excited to be back…especially to ring in the new year! while we opted for a more low key itinerary compared to london, we did have a few highlights on the schedule! the first being our “big” plans on new years eve - we went to go see swan lake! i know…the provost are crazy party animals haha! and our big meal of the trip was to le jules verne: restaurant in the eiffel tower by michelin-starred chef frédéric anton.

the anti-nordstrom sale post: why i have not, am not, and will (probably) never shop the nordstrom anniversary sale

every summer the hoards of bloggers emerge for the annual money-maker event of the season. and to be honest the content never fails to be completely overloaded. but why am i so against a sale? because it’s the day before the public access, i’m going going to share why.

a series of unfortunate events

these past two weeks i have had incredible things planned! i was able to persuade amanda to book a last minute trip to los angeles with me and we literally had the best time (aside from the fact that i ripped my favorite blouse #stillbitter)! we were exhausted because we shot from sunrise to sunset every day but more on all of that content later. unfortunately though, the past few days i have just been dealing with a string of bad luck and it’s put a damper on my attitude. from travel mishaps to technical issues, i’ve just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry…in fact i did that this afternoon on the phone with my mom in the back of an uber. that definitely killed my uber rating haha.

walk the dot

suits, recently, have been my favorite things to throw on (see here) so when i saw blair eadie’s collection had no shortage of matching suits, i couldn’t help myself but to buy one! …yeah yeah yeah okay two! and the best part about blair’s collection in collaboration with halogen, was the versatility and interchangeableness (is that even a word?) with one another so i felt so comfortable pairing this polka dotted blouse with the printed suit to complete the look!

stowe away

last month, dana and i decided we needed a heavy dose of fall foliage so we packed up the car and made the five and a half hour drive to the land of foliage: vermont! while i am no stranger to vermont, as i’ve been a few times and most recently to woodstock with andrea last winter, this was my first time to stowe. dana and i had the honor of staying at field guide for a night, which was one of the cutest hotels in the area!

in the black

happy friday everyone! and more importantly, a happy black friday! i hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving yesterday but now the fun really begins: the countdown to chirstmas! while everyone is very excited to take advantage of holiday deals and deep discounts, i will spread the same message that i do every year. it’s a reminder to those who are choosing to do their shopping today in the stores, remember to be extra, extra, extra nice and patient to the sales associates and staff members. they have to work incredibly long and stressful hours today and who knows what time they had to get up this morning to get to work. and typically, the time retail workers get to spend with their families is cut short so just be aware of that before you think someone is moving a little slower than you would like (*cough looking at you new yorkers cough*).

end of summer...almost

tomorrow is the day we have all been waiting for…the first day of fall! i cannot tell you how excited i am to finally break out my sweaters and jackets! however, mother nature still wants to pretend like it’s summer for the next few weeks. so i guess the cashmere will have to wait. i don’t entirely mind though because this gives me the chance to squeeze in a few more summer dresses before the leaves start to change!

spot on

yesterday on the blog, i shared the look i wore to andrea's wedding and it only seemed appropriate that i share the outfit i wore to her rehearsal dinner as well! seeing as i was going to be drinking and eating all night, i knew i wanted to be comfy. aka i wanted to find the flowy-est of flowy dresses there was. and i'm pretty sure i nailed it with this polka dotted number. while admittedly it is not the most flattering thing i've ever worn here on this blog...it is without a doubt the comfiest and i'm so happy i wore it as the food at the dinner did not disappoint!

berry, berry, quite contrary

my short stay in savannah was coming to an end but before i headed over to charleston, emily, ashley, and i were sure to get some last-minute exploring in! but in order to fuel up, we stopped at soho south café for some much needed brunch. unfortunately, the staff was incredibly rude to us about taking pictures so after we got the shots we needed, we just went straight to dunkin' donuts...because duh! i think we can safely say who the real winners were here.

wandering in woodstock

welcome to woodstock! i had been dying to come back to vermont after visiting it for the first time almost three years ago! my last trip was during the summer, and although it was absolutely stunning, i was itching to come back in the winter. snow covered mountains is one of my favorite sights...because sandy beaches are so 2005. andrea and i decided to make the nearly 5-hour trek up to woodstock to get in some snow time (outside of nyc). unfortunately, on the drive up, it was pouring rain and continued to rain throughout the afternoon and evening. the michigander in me knew this only meant one thing come morning: ice...and a lot of it. thankfully it was cold enough that the snow didn't leave us completely but it was all covered with a sheet of ice. weather challenges aside, that didn't stop up from exploring the town!

taxi please!

happy monday everyone! with the temperatures quickly dropping, i knew i needed to get in a few more dresses before i left for my trip to europe (posts will start next week!!). and although we all know i'm a sucker for polkadots, the silhouette of this dress was far outside my comfort zone. i am typically one for a classic fit and flare shape but the little flip at the bottom of this dress was too good to pass up! oh, and the fact that it was under $50! i just added my favorite taxi clutch into the mix and i was good to go! i hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead!

a piece of paris

there will always be a special place in my heart for paris. when i was in college, there was no question in my mind as to where i would study abroad and inevitably ended up at sciences po for my fall semester junior year. i had visited paris a few times prior to the move when i was in both middle and high school and i had the most magical of times. basically those experiences set the bar quite high for my time abroad. there still are some pre-blogging instagrams of mine floating around my feed but one of my favorite memories of my study abroad (and most photographed) were my strolls back from class through the luxembourg gardens with my little green ladurée bag: filled with nothing but sugary goodness!

dots and stripes

as always, the weekend before the fourth of july are completely dedicated to all things red, white, and blue. as mentioned here, my go-to uniform for the all-american festivities are based in blue and white with pops of red. i loved adding polkadots into the mix as it is (shockingly) a print that a rarely wear. and let's be honest, polkadots are about as close as you can get to stars without looking like an actual american flag.
