plaid tidings

'tis the season for plaid! if you’ve been following me for a while, you know it's one of my absolute favorite prints. i wear it year round but winter time plaids tend to be my favorite because that's when we can break out the festive tartan. tartan is a type of plaid originating in scotland that adheres to a certain pattern specifics. their scottish origins result in the classic red, blue and green color palettes that we so adore for christmas time. so pro tip: if you are looking for a more traditional plaid, including "tartan" in your web search will help a lot! below, i've included some of my favorite current plaid and tartan pieces for you to browse. i hope my roundup of favorite plaid holiday looks from over the years gives you some styling inspiration!

rockin' around the christmas tree

as i briefly mentioned here, the days leading up to christmas, i was surprised with the news that the camp we were staying at in africa did not have wifi (like i was initially told). but i’m clearly not still bitter about it….nooooooo haha!

this was the one post i was extra excited to post this year because it is my annual lotte palace hotel christmas tree shoot! this is by far my (and every other blogger in new york’s) favorite christmas tree in the city. one reason why i love this the most is that the crowds are manageable and you are able to go right up to the tree - no barricades! oh, and of course i always have fake wrapped christmas gifts…duh!

so in any case, merry christmas! i hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday with your families!

dress: kate spade
turtleneck: theory
shoes: gucci (love the flats too)
earrings: chanel
bracelets: cartier

golden girl

one of my favorite things about the holidays are the opportunities to dress up! even if you’re overdressed for the dinner party, people just get it during this time of year! while i won’t officially be wearing this dress until an event back in michigan in january, this dress initially caught my eye for the annual met holiday party. i ended up re-wearing this dress from over the summer with a turtleneck underneath just because i wasn’t able to get the dress hemmed in time (but i obviously wanted to keep it long for these photos because #drama).

dress: jenny packham
shoes: jimmy choo
bag: saint laurent
earrings: vintage chanel

embrace the lace

the final countdown to christmas has begun but where did the time go?? anyone else feel like they have 2 more weeks to prepare? this year, my holiday closet is prepped with tons of plaid so i figured i would start with a little pinch of lace. this super romantic dress is the perfect option when you don't want to scream christmas, but still festive enough that you're family won't claim you're the grinch. now i'm off to go buy everyone's christmas presents because i'm the master at procrastination! oops!
