walk the dot

suits, recently, have been my favorite things to throw on (see here) so when i saw blair eadie’s collection had no shortage of matching suits, i couldn’t help myself but to buy one! …yeah yeah yeah okay two! and the best part about blair’s collection in collaboration with halogen, was the versatility and interchangeableness (is that even a word?) with one another so i felt so comfortable pairing this polka dotted blouse with the printed suit to complete the look!

suit: halgoen x atlantic-pacific (jacket and pants)
top: halgoen x atlantic-pacific
shoes: sam edelman
bag: m2malletier
earrings: chanel
bracelets: cartier
sunglasses: illesteva

on the case

over the past few months, i've done quite a bit of detective work...so i figured i should probably dress accordingly for my new self-appointed role in society. after the large nordstrom package that was stolen from my apartment lobby back in december, i was in contact with quite a few detectives in the 19th precinct here in nyc. and i have to say...they could have done better dressing the part. so i'm helping them out! haha! once i found this trench, everything else fell into place. all i'm missing is my magnifying glass and i'll be sure to catch the thief who stole my package (and the two others from a few weeks ago)!

bag it up // the benefits of shopping in europe

oh paris, your charm and culture are irresistible...but not quite as irresistible as that 13% v.a.t. (value added tax). for those who may not be familiar, when shopping in europe the tax is included in the price on the tag *cough* america...get on that *cough* and any non-european resident has the opportunity to get that tax back when leaving the country. i know! this makes shopping in europe that much more fun because you seemingly get a 13% discount wherever you go! and when there is a big purchase i want to make and know i'm going to be travelling, i do all the research that i can before leaving for any overseas trip. but let's break this down a little further. of course, prices are going to vary between brands and different countries (with different currencies) that they may be located in so it's always handy to do a little leg work if you are going to be visiting multiple countries. however, more often than not, the home country of the brand is going to be the least expensive (i.e. ted baker is the least expensive in england and tory burch is the least expensive in the us) so i knew my trip to paris would be my opportunity to finally get my hands on the céline clasp bag - to obviously complete my transformation into a 95 year old woman.

stress-free hair

i can say now that i truly love my hair...but i haven't always felt this way about it. when i was younger, i was constantly teased for being a redhead and many people would unwelcomely touch my hair. i considered my hair a burden and hated sticking out in the crowd. but my hair shaped who i am today - fun fact: i wrote my college essay about being a redhead - and i'm so thankful for it.

stripe a pose

say hello to trench coat weather! although i have officially broken out my lighter-weighted jackets, they still need some layering for those chilly spring morning and evenings. this striped turtleneck is the perfect pairing for almost all of my spring coats and i feel like i'm wearing a sweatshirt all day! ...without looking like i'm wearing one...because apparently sweatshirts aren't "office appropriate"

rain check

now i know this post technically should be named "snow check" but i think we can all agree this umbrella was just too cute to pass on! this transition to spring has definitely taken us on a whirlwind ride including some crazy temperature changes. two weeks ago we had a blizzard and now it is 65 degrees with half the day raining and the other half sunny. feel free to make up your mind mother nature!
