suit up for summer

while we all may not have anywhere very important to go, that doesn’t mean we can’t make our grocery store runs and socially distanced get-togethers feel special. this summer i have constantly been drawn to suits: short suits in particular. maybe it’s just the “pretty woman” vibes that a short suit brings but i can’t help but feel chic af in them! whether it’s a monochromatic look or a printed set, short suits are easy to mix-and-match and rock any day of the week!

on the rocks

well the grand finale of my longest shoot day ever is here! amanda and i were so excited to end our day in joshua tree - a place i’ve always wanted to see! after our drive from palm springs, we got to the national park a few hours before sunset and we nearly gasped at how large this place was. we had absolutely no idea what to expect but we were blown away. the massive park combined with the perfect light made for one heck of a photoshoot!

true life: "traveling" as a blogger

the fact that i get to travel as a part of my job will forever be surreal to me. i get the opportunities to experience incredible sights and places because of my blogging and photography that i otherwise would not have seen - and many times, i have my best friends right by my side. but more often than not, followers just see the final photo that many times takes hours and hours of preparation and post production giving the illusion that traveling as a blogger is glamorous. and don’t get me wrong, i would not be doing this if i didn’t love it 110% but i think people often forget that this is a job and when i’m traveling, i am working. i will say i too sometimes will scroll through instagram and come across the perfect photo with the best lighting, location, and corresponding outfit that sometimes i assume it was all by coincidence. granted sometimes that does happen, but more often than not, photos and posts have so much more care and attention involved in them that the final image will never be able to show. with that in mind, i wanted to go a little more in-depth and share what went into this shoot and the crazy packed day that followed.

fashionably late

i know, i know…it’s no longer hydrangea season…but hey! better late than never! when i got back from my trip to rome, i found myself essentially drowning in unpublished content, which i’m aware is not necessarily the worst problem to have but i just couldn’t keep up with it all! so instead of powering through and editing all of the photos, i just let them sit there and procrastinated. i procrastinated so much that i am now posting an outfit from july…and would you believe me if i told you my last post was taken back in may??? oopsies.

dress: giambattista valli (also love the off-the-shoulder version)

line it up

as evident from my last post, light linen dresses are my go-to pieces for this season. and when i was packing for my trip to rome, i realized i needed a one more dress that i could just throw on without thinking! i thankfully found this dress that is under $100 that was so comfy i nearly bought it in the other color too! i threw on my favorite prada hat and i was ready to eat all of the pasta my stomach could allow!

check mate

many times after ashley and i had our early morning shoots, we would head back to the hotel, stuff our faces with breakfast, change, and then go out for more photos...all before 8am. did i mention we were pro travelers? haha! but this morning we had intended on just shooting in piazza navona (seen in the last picture) but we kept getting distracted by the cutest little streets on the way and surrounding the piazza. and while it may always be nice to have some sort of plan while traveling, my favorite moments are the ones we improvise!

roses in rome

with a sharp contrast to the last post on prêt-à-provost where ashley and i leisurely went to the spanish steps during the middle of the day and there were swarms of people everywhere, this 5:30am call time gave us all the time to truly enjoy this tourist hotspot all to ourselves! well that was until the three guys who were still out from the night before left from the top of the steps...

rome-ing around

whenever i go to a city, especially as a blogger, it's inevitable that i have to hit up the big ticket stops (like here and here) but there is nothing i love more than just exploring some of the main touristy areas at our own leisure. ashley and i started off our morning around the ruins around palatine hill and while we may have gotten there relatively early at 9am, compared to our other early morning wake up calls, this was a welcomed change!

a-door-able rome

when i was packing for my trip to rome, i knew i needed to bring some crazy comfortable pieces that i could walk around all day in...and eat copious amounts of pasta. i immediately grabbed this gal meets glam collection dress without hesitation. while i purchased it back when the gmg collection launched (as in right at 9am est on the first day haha!) and wore this dress countless times, i never actually photographed it! so i figured rome would be the perfect time for this dress to make it's debut on the blog. but for real, this dress feels like you're wearing pajamas and it's the greatest thing ever! i even convinced jenn that she needed it in her life too...it's that good!

flippin' good vacation

with spring not wanting to make up its mind on whether to stay or to go, i escaped the cold by heading down to naples, florida with my family over the easter holiday! while i tried to keep this holiday weekend a real vacation (aka no blogging), the flowers had bloomed just in time for my arrival and they coincidentally matched my new dress so obviously i had to take my camera out juuuust once!

berry, berry, quite contrary

my short stay in savannah was coming to an end but before i headed over to charleston, emily, ashley, and i were sure to get some last-minute exploring in! but in order to fuel up, we stopped at soho south café for some much needed brunch. unfortunately, the staff was incredibly rude to us about taking pictures so after we got the shots we needed, we just went straight to dunkin' donuts...because duh! i think we can safely say who the real winners were here.

orange is the new black

oh savannah! your picturesque streets were seemingly never-ending and i could have walked them for hours...and i basically did! we fueled up for our only full-day with the most incredible brunch at collins quarter before heading out on our adventures. and because ashley is no stranger to savannah (she lives just a couple hours away!), she knew all of the perfect spots and corners for me to imagine myself living there. but if it wasn't for the raging summer heat and humidity, i would have packed up and moved that instant! thankfully i had the comfiest dress to strut around town in and it kept me cool all day long! our day was filled wandering the streets of historic savannah and worked up an appetite for dinner at pacci right before our ghost tour that night! oh yeah, and speaking of ghost tour, i had no idea how haunted this town was! i'm just thankful we didn't go on one on our first night! but spoiler alert: i made it through my last spooky night before i bolted out of there the next day!

get your veuve on

i hopped off the plane at lax with my boater hat and a bottle of veuve in hand...and ready to attend the eighth annual veuve clicquot polo classic in los angeles! now many of you know that dana and i are regulars at the veuve polo classic in new york city so you can imagine our excitement when we made the decision to head to the west coast! we had no idea what to expect aside from the whole "champagne" thing haha but there were definitely some differences.
