18 hours in mexico city

hot off the heels from my family wedding in puerto vallarta, my parents and i took a quick trip to mexico city. my parents had time to stay the entire weekend but my time was limited to a mere 18 hours because i had to hop on a plane first thing in morning for my next adventure. needless to say the moment we landed in mexico city, it was crunch time!

seattle and the unpredictable weather

when dana and i decided to head to the west coast for the skagit valley tulip festival, we didn't really have anything else on our agenda except we knew we wanted to stop at the pike place market. i know, stereotypical but hey, we couldn't help it! as i mentioned here, dana and i had taken the 6am flight from new york to seattle to maximize our first day. we also wanted to feel out what this whole crazy seattle weather situation was going to be like because the forecast predicted rain every single day. but tim gunn would have been proud because we definitely made it work. we became mini al roker's because we would obsess over the hourly breakdown of the weather and constantly checked the radar for updates. any time there was a patch of good weather coming up, we ran to the location!

colors of the wind

to give a little back story on this post, a few years ago, i saw the stunning rach parcell visit the dreamiest of tulip fields. as much as i would have loved to hop on a plane and jet off to washington state, back then, i would never have been able to justify flying to the other side of the country to visit a field of flowers. but now? it's a whole different story. thankfully i was able to persuade dana to come along with me just a few weeks before the skagit valley tulip festival began and what seemed like only days later, we were on our way to seattle! we arrived to the rainy city tired after our 6am flight but this meant we had the whole day to explore downtown. we dropped our bags off at our hotel and headed to the typical seattle hotspots (but more on that later).

pick a flower any flower

happy friday! i'm so happy you guys loved my instagrammer's guide to nashville a few days ago but there was very one important location that i felt deserved it's own post: amelia's flower truck of course! this charming flower store on wheels has everything an instagram obsessed girl could ask for. and because the location changes, ashley and i literally had to track it down...and by that i mean look on their website to see where it was that day haha.

the most instagrammable spots in nashville

i know what you're all thinking...i just travel for the instagrammable spots. and you're definitely right about that haha! but what most people don't know is that a lot of work goes in to finding these adorable (and sometimes delicious) spots and then tracking them down. so i'm going to make it extra easy for you if you ever find yourself in nashville and in need of an instagram! when ashley and i were prepping for this trip, i made a powerpoint...yes you heard that correctly...a powerpoint of all the locations we wanted to hit up. and then within this powerpoint, i included opening hours if it was a business or which direction it was facing so we would know the best time to go (aka for the sun). some may call it crazy but i call it efficient. because we only had one full day to fit this all in. talk about crunch time!

country road

my second nashville post is here and it's all about that historic and classic vibes this city has to offer! ashley and i woke up crazy early to beat the crowds to go to the iconic broadway in the heart of nashville. similar to the broadway in nyc, this street gets the most action from tourists who just want to have a good time. the street is packed with bars and restaurants and it's safe to say it has never seen a quiet night.

getting cheeky with nashville

hello again! i know i have been incredibly sporadic on the site (and instagram as well) but i'm happy to announce that i've finally moved into my new apartment! i mentioned briefly here that i had had it with my old (and first) apartment here in nyc and needed an out fast. i quickly fell in love with a similar sized apartment but this time with the benefit of an elevator and a doorman. literal life changers! the past week as been so hectic with all of the suuuper fun moving responsibilities that my blog has taken a back seat. well, after my few days off, i'm finally able to sit down and share my posts from my trip to nashville with ashley!

flippin' good vacation

with spring not wanting to make up its mind on whether to stay or to go, i escaped the cold by heading down to naples, florida with my family over the easter holiday! while i tried to keep this holiday weekend a real vacation (aka no blogging), the flowers had bloomed just in time for my arrival and they coincidentally matched my new dress so obviously i had to take my camera out juuuust once!

pastel me more

hello charleston: the perfect spring getaway from the cold and dreary new york city...the sun was desperately needed! in contrast to the last time i was in charleston a few years ago in august, this time the head and humidity were far from extreme and i wasn't in a hurry to race home to nyc! as a result of the aggressive weather, i wasn't really a fan of any of my photos. so like my trip to paris, i was eager to get back to the charming city to redo the photos. for this time around, i took my time strolling the streets and taking in the scenery. everywhere i turned, there were colorful corners that belonged in a magazine and it was a plethora of pastel perfection!

berry, berry, quite contrary

my short stay in savannah was coming to an end but before i headed over to charleston, emily, ashley, and i were sure to get some last-minute exploring in! but in order to fuel up, we stopped at soho south café for some much needed brunch. unfortunately, the staff was incredibly rude to us about taking pictures so after we got the shots we needed, we just went straight to dunkin' donuts...because duh! i think we can safely say who the real winners were here.

orange is the new black

oh savannah! your picturesque streets were seemingly never-ending and i could have walked them for hours...and i basically did! we fueled up for our only full-day with the most incredible brunch at collins quarter before heading out on our adventures. and because ashley is no stranger to savannah (she lives just a couple hours away!), she knew all of the perfect spots and corners for me to imagine myself living there. but if it wasn't for the raging summer heat and humidity, i would have packed up and moved that instant! thankfully i had the comfiest dress to strut around town in and it kept me cool all day long! our day was filled wandering the streets of historic savannah and worked up an appetite for dinner at pacci right before our ghost tour that night! oh yeah, and speaking of ghost tour, i had no idea how haunted this town was! i'm just thankful we didn't go on one on our first night! but spoiler alert: i made it through my last spooky night before i bolted out of there the next day!

from kennebunkport, with love

happy valentine's day everyone!

what better way to celebrate one of my favorite holidays (mostly because everyone wears pink and red) than by sharing the details from my girl's getaway with dana to kennebunkport, maine! we were so honored to have been asked to help celebrate the most romantic of months in this charming town to kick off paint the town red! but before i get into all of the good stuff, it is crucial that i share the perfection that was my hotel: the grand hotel. located just before the bridge to what is considered kennebunkport, this quaint hotel in kennebunk was just what i needed for a weekend getaway! as soon as i checked in, i jumped into the frette robe that was hanging and had to stop myself from eating all of the chocolates that awaited me on the coffee table. after getting settled in my hotel, and dana in hers, we headed out to explore the town!

love letters to woodstock

during our trip to vermont, andrea and i had the amazing opportunity to stay at the cutest hotel in the entire state: the woodstock inn. i had popped by this hotel for lunch when i was last in vermont and there was no doubt in my mind that i needed to come back. so nearly three years later, andrea was willing to journey the 5+ hour drive with me to get a better look at this cute little inn...this time as a guest!

wandering in woodstock

welcome to woodstock! i had been dying to come back to vermont after visiting it for the first time almost three years ago! my last trip was during the summer, and although it was absolutely stunning, i was itching to come back in the winter. snow covered mountains is one of my favorite sights...because sandy beaches are so 2005. andrea and i decided to make the nearly 5-hour trek up to woodstock to get in some snow time (outside of nyc). unfortunately, on the drive up, it was pouring rain and continued to rain throughout the afternoon and evening. the michigander in me knew this only meant one thing come morning: ice...and a lot of it. thankfully it was cold enough that the snow didn't leave us completely but it was all covered with a sheet of ice. weather challenges aside, that didn't stop up from exploring the town!

hallstatt // the storybook town

well the time has come...this is officially the last post from my european extravaganza! as a closet pinterest-er, i stumbled upon the most picturesque town of hallstatt when searching for locations in austria. sitting just an hour outside of salzburg, my mom and i decided to make the drive to see my pinterest board come to life. thankfully our sound of music tour guide from the day before gave us amazing pointers for this quaint little town.

salzburg // the hills are alive

well the time has finally come for me to share my favorite day of the entire trip...the sound of music tour! knowing we were going to be in austria, i could not leave the country without visiting the location of one of my favorite movies. so after our night at the ballet (and visiting one more museum for my mom in the morning), we hopped back in the car and drove the three and a half hours to salzburg listening to the sound of music the entire way. it was dark upon our arrival but we knew we were in for so much fun when we checked into the hotel sacher. even through the minimal lights, the view from our room was stunning! after ordering room service, we immediately went to bed because we had an early wakeup call.

beauty and the books

once upon a time, in the middle of nowhere austria, was a monastery that housed arguably the world's most beautiful library. one so stunning that it was even the inspiration for the library in beauty and the beast. after seeing a photo of this heavenly place on instagram (vaguely geo-tagged austria), i set out on the quest to track it down. after hours of research...okay dramatic but whatever...i finally found it: admont abbey. the town of admont was located right on the way to salzburg, austria (where we were heading next) and figured that we would stop there on the way for convenience. but thankfully i looked at the hours and would have been closed the day we were heading to salzburg (as well as the remainder of our trip). so we had to move to plan b. after our morning at the schönbrunn palace, we hopped in the car to make the 3 hour journey to admont. aka a total of 6 hours "to do it for the gram."

vienna // early bird

hello vienna! after an amazing week in paris with andrea, i was so excited to meet up with my mom in the capital of austria! when planning, we needed to pick a location that had both enough fall foliage for yours truly with a mix of history and art for my mom...and vienna seemed like the perfect decision. immediately when we got off of the plane, we checked into the palais coburg (we were very unimpressed but i will get into that some other time) and headed right to albertina museum to check out the raphael exhibit. my mom could have stayed there for hours (and she did) so i stopped in for a bit but then left her to go get a blowout - you know, priorities - because i knew what time i needed to wake up the next morning.
